CANCER RESEARCH IN
ACTION CONFERENCE 2008
20,21 & 22 August 2008
Emperors Palace
It
gives me great pleasure to officially
announce the Cancer Research in Action
Conference which will be CANSA’s most
comprehensive cancer research conference
ever held in Southern Africa.
I encourage anyone interested in cancer
research to please attend as much of the
conference as you can. You will not be
disappointed and you will leave a much wiser
and motivated person in terms of the fight
against cancer.
Cancer research is very important to CANSA’s
mission, which is
to reduce the impact of cancer by promoting
health in all communities within
South Africa,
through advocacy and the sustainable
facilitation of
research, prevention, early detection and care.
I am proud that CANSA has a long history of
raising funds for cancer research which
translates into over R4.5 million per year
to cancer research. However, we also need to
better inform the research community and the
public about the kinds of research being
conducted and how these studies are
progressing. It is also important to foster
debate, raise the profile of researchers and
motivate young researchers who are so needed
in this beautiful country of ours.
That is why this conference is not to be
missed.
I look forward to seeing you in August at
Emperor’s Palace!
Very best wishes
Sue Janse van Rensburg
